Sigh

The Charlotte 49ers lost in triple overtime to #22 Alabama, a team that went to the Elite 8 last year. Final score Bama 102, Niners 101. The Niners led throughout most of the game by as many as 15 points. They had several chances to put the game away, but ultimately fell apart under pressure. The main problem with the Niners this year?
Abysmal free throw shooting. They only shot 61% from the free throw line, compared to about 85% for Bama. One or two more made free throws by the Niners and we might have won.

Well, it's only 1 game, and it's what the NCAA selection committee considers a "quality loss". At least we didn't lose to Santa Clara.

Thanks for the note Ed. FYI, Charlotte might play Santa Clara later this month in the Cable Car Classic. We'll get either them or C. Conn St. I hope it's Santa Clara.
